OVERVIEW

In industries such as pulp and paper, textiles, petrochemical and pharmaceutical, toxic or difficult to treat contaminants can end up in the waste stream. Not being able to detect these toxic release events in a timely manner can disrupt the biological treatment system and cause compliance issues or permit violations. Monitoring for contamination events is invaluable, resulting in many benefits including;

LAB RESULTS DELAY EVENT DETECTION

Manufacturing plants often rely on daily grab samples as their primary means for characterizing their wastewater. Relying on a laboratory to obtain results leads to a significant time lag and the information offered is usually of little value to identify upstream process upsets and improve plant performance. Plants need a solution that delivers continuous water quality information to operations personnel.

REAL-TIME CONTAMINANT DETECTION IN WASTEWATER

Significant benefits can be derived from continuous monitoring with an online sensor system. In order to achieve the highest performance, the sensor needs to be customized for measuring process specific organic parameters, such as BTEX, dyes, surfactants and black liquor, along with aggregate parameters such as BOD, COD or TOC.
