CHEMICAL DOSE OPTIMIZATION

Addition of chemicals into the primary clarifier or aeration tank is employed to remove solids and organic matter from incoming wastewater. BOD and COD are the most relevant test to assess water quality; however, the delay in laboratory results often make the data unusable for chemical dose or adjustments. Optimization of chemical addition is important because adding too little will decrease treatment efficiency, while adding too much will not only increase chemical costs but also increase sludge production and disposal costs.
